Homeschooling

Guest post from: Kent Lara

So I’m thinking about homeschooling my kids. It’s become a very popular alternative in my area and I think I’m ready to jump the mainstream ship to join the new private yachts the sea of education is offering. Sorry for the sloppy metaphor, but that’s exactly what education seems to be these days: a carrier ship full of the latest trends for the public school and the custom design and private comfort of the charter and private schools. I’ve read books, and I’ve listened to friends with experience in the area, but I need something more. I wonder if I look up the educational programming on www.direct.tv if they would have any public access channels that explain the private sector as much as that one public station that flashes old power points of the happenings within the county schools. In fact, I am almost certain that there is or should be some kind of video classroom on the cable channels since there are so many alternatives to the regular school room. In fact, I think that will be my first area of research: the video classroom.
